Dumb thought of the day

Do you ever think about how having a counting system based on fives and tens seems obvious and logical to us but is really arbitrary, but then it's actually not arbitrary because it's based on having two sets of five fingers? That's why it's so easy to count on your fingers.

Never assume you've left retail behind for good.

I got my job back at Ann Taylor Loft because the Vanguard doesn't pay me enough.

1. It's really cool that I got my job back.
2. People's moms are the best customers.
3. On the one hand I like working with clothes, but on the other hand at the end of the day I need relief from 7 hours of conservative knits. Shots of unrealistic runway clothes are incredibly refreshing.

Deep Throat stepped forward! That's crazy! I just found out the day after we devoted half a class period in art history to the Guerrilla Girls, an incredibly cool, anonymous group of women who fight against sexism and racism in the art world. In a world where celebrity can do so much, sometimes a lack of identity can do more. On the one hand, it keeps an idea pure because it isn't given the characteristics of the individual who holds it; the individual loses importance. On the other hand, the individual is more important and gets more attention because everyone wants to find out who it is, so when people choose anonymity to avoid sensation, it creates its own kind of sensation. I wish I had the time or a reason to turn this into an essay or maybe a dissertation. I don't, but somebody else probably will.
