installation week

Posted by: Matt McCormick | From: January 5, 2008

phew- crazy week. if you have seen me around then i have probably had a video camera in my hand, or was running off to edit. i have two brand new installations in the works and on display this week. you should check them out:

first off, i just made (like literally, just finished a few minutes ago) a new video diorama for the Children of the Revolution festival this weekend at Audio Cinema. There is a ton of cool stuff happening at this event, and you should check it out (unless you have another video installation to make). My piece is called 'please consider flying away with me' and consists of video, fiber-fill, and lots of felt.

then, on thursday night january 10, i have a big 2 projector install that was commissioned by the fab new architecture magazine Portland Spaces that will be on display at their launch party (details on that to follow). i am working on this piece with Jeremy Bitterman and Rob Tyler, and if we don't get swept away by the hurricane this weekend it might turn out pretty good. okay, back to work.

i had no idea that cutting out felt clouds would be so difficult

UPDATE: it is nearly impossible to photograph video projection in a large space, but here is a pict from the Portland Spaces party, complete with two channel video installation:
